Plans (POS)
The difference is that with a POS, as with a PPO, patients are allowed to go outside the system as long as they are willing to pay for that privilege.
Less restrictive than an HMO or PPO, a POS lets you see any physician for anything covered by the insurance. Care you receive from out-of-plan physician is reimbursed, but you may pay a higher co-payment or deductible amount.
Costs that exceed your deductible are covered by a co-insurance plan in which you and the insurance company share the cost for services covered by the policy.
